FIFA Best Awards 2025: Messi, Modric, Salah Among Players’ Votes Revealed
Details of how leading football stars voted in the 2025 FIFA Men’s Best Player award have been made public, revealing the preferences of several national team captains, including Lionel Messi, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah.
The voting breakdown was released following the announcement of Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé as the winner of the 2025 FIFA Best Men’s Player award on Tuesday. The France international finished ahead of Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé to claim the prestigious honour.
As part of the selection process, captains of national teams across the world were invited to cast their votes on behalf of their countries. Notably, Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva represented Portugal in the voting, rather than Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to the published results, Argentina captain Lionel Messi voted for Dembélé as his first choice, followed by Mbappé in second place and Yamal in third. Egypt captain Mohamed Salah selected Achraf Hakimi as his top choice, with Dembélé second and Mbappé third.
England captain Harry Kane also backed Dembélé for the top spot, while placing Vitinha second and Salah third. Croatia’s Luka Modric voted for Vitinha as his first choice, followed by Dembélé and Yamal. Meanwhile, Portugal’s representative Bernardo Silva chose Vitinha first, Nuno Mendes second and Dembélé third.
The voting results highlight strong support for Dembélé among his peers, ultimately reflecting in his emergence as the 2025 FIFA Best Men’s Player.
