Flying Eagles Edge Saudi Arabia 3-2 in U-20 World Cup Thriller

Daniel Bamayi’s stoppage-time penalty secured a dramatic 3-2 victory for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles over Saudi Arabia in their second Group F match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile on Friday.
The Flying Eagles twice took the lead but were pegged back by the Saudis before Bamayi calmly converted from the spot in the 94th minute to seal the win for coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side.
Nasiru Salihu opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a header before Amar Al Yuhaybi equalised 11 minutes later. Amos Ochoche restored Nigeria’s advantage in the 38th minute, but substitute Talal Haji levelled for Saudi Arabia early in the second half.
Just when the game seemed destined for a draw, a Saudi defender handled the ball in the box in added time, allowing Bamayi to deliver the decisive goal.
In the group’s other fixture, Colombia and Norway played out a goalless draw. After two rounds of matches, Colombia and Norway lead with four points each, Nigeria sits third with three points, while Saudi Arabia remains bottom without a point. The Flying Eagles will face group leaders Colombia in their final group stage game on Monday, October 6.
