FG Warns Federal Fire Service Personnel Against Job Racketeering
The Federal Government has warned officers and personnel of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) against engaging in job racketeering during the ongoing recruitment exercise into the agency.
Controller-General of the Service, Olumode Adeyemi, issued the warning on Thursday during a working visit to the Abuja Metropolitan Fire Station and the Wuse Fire Station in the Federal Capital Territory.
Adeyemi stressed that staff must always uphold the reputation of the agency, warning that anyone found guilty of extorting or collecting money from job seekers would face immediate dismissal.
“No job racketeering. Any staff or personnel involved in job racketeering will be shown the way out. I have drawn a line. If you are caught, if your name is mentioned, you will go for it. There is no sacred cow,” the CG declared.
He also assured officers of improved welfare, noting that allowances had been consolidated into the salary structure to enhance motivation and service delivery.
The warning comes amid the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to sanitise recruitment processes in public institutions and ensure transparency and accountability.
