Yobe State Lifts Midnight Curfew for Ramadan
Yobe, February 19, 2026 – The Yobe State Government has lifted the midnight curfew across the state to allow residents to observe the Ramadan fast without restrictions.
The decision was announced by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (retd.), following a State Security Council meeting presided over by Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana.
Abdulsalam explained that the council reviewed the security situation and deemed the curfew relaxation necessary to enable peaceful religious observances, including congregational prayers, iftar, seminars, and Qiyamul Lail, which often extend late into the night.
He warned that criminals might attempt to exploit the festive period, urging security agencies to strengthen preventive measures and residents to provide credible intelligence to sustain peace.
The security adviser also raised concerns about illegal mining activities in the Gulani area, noting that operatives were addressing the situation to safeguard lives and property.
