In his verse on ‘MMS,’ Wizkid offers listeners a glimpse into his grief-stricken heart, revealing how his mother’s death has changed him. The lyrics convey a sense of sorrow and self-discovery, as he sings about feeling lost after her passing but eventually finding new purpose in life.

“You no fit run from who you are
Man, wetin go be, man, is cast in stone….
Why mama leave me, yeah, e no long
Lost myself and I found my purpose
Yeah, everyday, I know that I’m blessed…
Nothing man no face, vibe today

Mrs. Jane Morayo Balogun passed away on August 18, 2023, in London, leaving a deep void in Wizkid’s life. The singer has been open about his grief, previously sharing heartfelt messages about how much he misses his mother. On her posthumous birthday on July 4th, he lamented that his life felt empty without her, describing his heart as “broken forever.”

In honor of his late mother, Wizkid announced plans to release a new album titled ‘Morayo,’ which bears her middle name. The project is expected to be a tribute to her memory, reflecting the emotional journey he has undergone since her passing.

‘MMS’ not only serves as a musical collaboration but also as a testament to Wizkid’s enduring love for his mother and the profound impact her loss has had on him. As fans connect with the raw emotions expressed in the song, it becomes clear that this latest release is more than just music—it’s a personal expression of grief and healing.
