Tinubu Lauds Stability of Ibadan Monarchy at Olubadan’s Coronation
President Bola Tinubu has praised the stability and peaceful succession of the Ibadan monarchy, highlighting it as a model for the entire nation to emulate.
Tinubu made these remarks during the coronation ceremony and presentation of the staff of office to the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, by Governor Seyi Makinde at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan on Friday.
The President commended the Ibadan traditional system for its rancour-free kingship model, which has ensured smooth transitions and stability over the years.
“The Ibadan monarchy stands as a beacon of stability and a model that Nigeria can learn from. The peaceful succession and unity within the Ibadan traditional system are exemplary,” Tinubu stated.
Governor Makinde, in his address, also emphasized the significance of the event and the importance of maintaining the cultural heritage and traditions of Ibadanland.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and residents, all celebrating the new Olubadan.
Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, in his acceptance speech, pledged to uphold the traditions of the Ibadan monarchy and work towards the continued peace and development of Ibadanland.
The new Olubadan also expressed gratitude to the people of Ibadan for their support and trust.
