Tinubu Hails Columnist Femi Orebe at 80

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated pro-democracy activist and veteran columnist, Dr Femi Orebe, on his 80th birthday.
Orebe, who has spent over three decades writing extensively on Nigerian and international politics, is widely regarded for his incisive commentaries and interventions in public affairs that have shaped discourse and influenced policy.
In a statement, President Tinubu described Orebe as both an ally and a brother, commending his consistent contributions to the knowledge space, including his forthcoming book Simply A Citizen Journalist.
The President noted that Orebe’s writings, from his days at the defunct Comet newspapers to The Nation, have been transformative, often challenging societal ills while proposing solutions for good governance. He also praised Orebe’s long-standing advocacy for democracy and national development.
Wishing him strength and continued grace as he joins the octogenarian ranks, President Tinubu lauded Orebe’s enduring impact on journalism, democracy, and public service in Nigeria.
