Tinubu Committed to Economic Diversification, Says VP Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to diversifying Nigeria’s economy, describing him as a leader with the political will to take bold decisions.
Shettima made this known on Thursday at the Presidential Villa while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) led by its President, Prof. Adeola Adenikinju. He highlighted the President’s recent trip to Brazil, which produced five Memoranda of Understanding covering aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture, as part of deliberate efforts to broaden the economy.
The Vice President said Nigeria is well-positioned to transform its youthful population into economic dividends and to fill global talent gaps. He pointed to the success of top African unicorns domiciled in Nigeria as evidence of the country’s intellectual capacity and versatility to drive the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Shettima urged the NES, one of the oldest organisations in the country’s economic space, to support the administration’s policies by offering robust solutions to national challenges. He assured the body that the Tinubu administration remains open to expert perspectives in shaping its diversification drive.
Earlier, NES President Prof. Adenikinju commended the administration’s economic reforms, pledging the society’s support and readiness to participate in the government’s economic management structures. He also announced that the Vice President will be conferred with the society’s highest honour, the Fellow of the Nigerian Economic Society (FNES), at its forthcoming national conference in Abuja on September 9.
