Those Who Benefit Most From Nigeria Least Committed to Its Stability — Gambari

February 3, 2026

Former Chief of Staff to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, has said many of those who benefit most from Nigeria’s resources show little commitment to the country’s stability, progress, and development.

Speaking with Newsmen, Gambari stated that his three years in the presidency exposed him to the vast possibilities of the office as well as the reluctance of some power seekers to make the sacrifices required to govern in the public interest. He also addressed claims about a powerful cabal under Buhari, noting that while every administration has influential groups, those around Buhari understood their limits and did not overstep them, attributing this to what he described as the former president’s “creative stubbornness.”
