Team Kwara Secures Fourth Consecutive Presidential School Debate Championship Title
Team Kwara, represented by the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has won the 2025 Presidential School Debate Championship in the Junior Secondary School category, marking the state’s fourth consecutive national title.
The victory further strengthens Kwara State’s reputation for excellence in basic education. In addition to the national achievement, the team gained international recognition earlier in the month by winning the 2025 Asia Parliamentary Debate Championship held in Malaysia.
SUBEB credited the sustained success to education reforms and strategic investments by the state government, which have focused on teacher training, improved learning infrastructure, and programmes that promote critical thinking and communication skills. These initiatives have created an environment in which students can excel.
The state government’s support has provided the necessary resources to nurture young talent across Kwara’s three senatorial districts, with contributions from teachers, debate coaches, administrators, and parents playing a key role.
The twin national and international debate victories highlight the impact of the state’s “Kwara Learn” initiative and set a new benchmark for educational development in Nigeria’s public school system.
