Super Falcons Set to Begin WAFCON 2026 Preparations on February 24
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will officially begin preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Tuesday, February 24, Completesports.com reports.
The team has been drawn in Group C alongside Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt. Nigeria will be aiming to extend their record by winning an 11th WAFCON title when the tournament kicks off in Morocco next month.
As part of their preparations, the Super Falcons will also participate in the WAFU B Invitational Tournament in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, later this month.
Head coach Justine Madugu emphasized the importance of proper preparation, noting that most of the players are based abroad and that the team cannot start a camp with fewer than 10 players. February 24 has been identified as the most realistic date to begin preparations.
The Falcons will play their opening group match against Malawi on Wednesday, March 18, with all their group fixtures scheduled at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The WAFCON 2026 tournament will run from March 17 to April 3.
