Super Falcons Set for Friendly Against Canada Ahead of 2024 Olympic Games
Nigeria’s Super Falcons are gearing up for a friendly match against the reigning Olympic champions, Canada, as part of their preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games.
The match is scheduled to take place in Sevilla, Spain, on Wednesday, July 17. The Super Falcons will establish their training base in Sevilla ahead of the Olympics, aiming to fine-tune their strategies and build team cohesion.
The friendly against Canada comes after their encounter in the group stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which ended in a goalless draw.
Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, revealed his 18-player squad for the Olympics on Wednesday, highlighting the team’s readiness and determination to make a strong showing on the global stage.
Nigeria, the nine-time African champions, are placed in Group A alongside world champions Spain, Japan, and Brazil.
The West Africans will face Brazil in their opening match at the Stade Bordeaux on July 25. This will be followed by a clash against Spain at the same venue three days later, and they will conclude their group stage campaign against Japan on July 31.
