Super Falcons Midfielder Halimatu Ayinde Ruled Out of Paris 2024 Olympics Due to Injury
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face the Paris 2024 Olympic Games without one of their key midfielders, Halimatu Ayinde, due to a knee injury.
Ayinde’s club confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the midfielder sustained the injury during a training session, ruling her out of contention for the upcoming Olympic tournament.
“We regret to announce that Halimatu Ayinde injured her knee during training yesterday and will miss the Olympics,” the club statement read. “We wish her a speedy recovery. Come on, Halimatu!”
Ayinde’s absence will be keenly felt as the Falcons prepare to kick off their campaign against Brazil in the opening group game scheduled for July 25th.
Her role as a pivotal player in the team’s midfield has been crucial in past tournaments, making her injury a significant setback for Nigeria’s Olympic aspirations.
