Super Falcons Head Coach Randy Waldrum Confident in Team’s Readiness for Paris 2024 Olympics
Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has expressed confidence in his team’s improved form and readiness ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Speaking to reporters, Waldrum emphasized that the Nigerian women’s national team is in a much better position than they were at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Waldrum’s squad impressed during the World Cup, advancing to the Round of 16 and delivering strong performances against top-tier teams like Canada, Australia, and England.
Since their narrow defeat to England’s Three Lionesses in the second round, the Super Falcons have only lost once.
Securing their place at the Olympics was a significant milestone for the West Africans, achieved by defeating their arch-rivals South Africa. Now, the team is set to face formidable opponents Brazil, Spain, and Japan in the group stage in Paris.
“I like what I have been seeing. We had a good time in Spain and since we arrived in France, it’s been fantastic and wonderful,” Waldrum said. “The players are ready to go. We are in better condition than we were a year ago. The team has continued to improve since the World Cup. Hopefully, we will see that when we face Brazil, a very good side.”
Waldrum’s optimism is rooted in the team’s recent performances and their rigorous preparation. The Super Falcons have been training intensively, with recent camps in Spain and France providing valuable experience and cohesion.
As the Olympics draw closer, the Super Falcons’ supporters and the broader football community will be watching closely to see if Waldrum’s side can translate their improved form into success on the grand stage
