Super Falcons Begin Preparations for Paris 2024 Olympics with Seville Training Session
The Nigerian women’s football team, the Super Falcons, have commenced their preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics with their first training session at their camp in Seville, Spain.
Scheduled to compete in the women’s football event from July 26 to August 11, Nigeria returns to Olympic football after their last appearance in 2008.
The camp in Seville officially opened on Friday, though training sessions were delayed due to the gradual arrival of players.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi, Deborah Abiodun, Toni Payne, and Morufat Ademola from Rivers Angels were among the players spotted in a video released by the Super Falcons Show on X.
Additional players reported in camp include goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Gift Monday, Chidinma Okeke, and Christy Ucheibe.
According to plans, the team will conclude their two-week training in Seville on July 18 before departing for France.
Head coach Randy Waldrum recently announced an initial squad of 18 players and four alternates for the Olympics, with possible adjustments expected due to midfielder Halimatu Ayinde’s injury.
Nigeria, nine-time African champions, is set to face Brazil, Spain, and Japan in Group A, starting with their match against Brazil at Stade Bordeaux on July 25, followed by games against Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31.
