Super Eagles Soar into AFCON Quarter-Finals as Egypt Edge Past Benin in Extra Time

January 6, 2026

Nigeria’s Super Eagles maintained their dominant Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 4-0 demolition of Mozambique in Fes on Monday, securing a spot in the quarter-finals. Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute, followed by Victor Osimhen’s first-half strike and a swift second-half brace, assisted by Lookman, before Adams wrapped up the rout in the 75th minute. Meanwhile, Egypt advanced to the last eight after a 3-1 extra-time victory over Benin in Agadir, with Mohamed Salah scoring the decisive goal following Marwan Attia’s opener and Jodel Dossou’s equaliser that forced extra time.
