October 11, 2025

Nigeria’s Super Eagles moved a step closer to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Lesotho 2-1 on Friday. Captain William Troost-Ekong opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 55th minute before Akor Adams doubled the lead in the 80th minute. Lesotho’s Kalake pulled one back three minutes later, but Nigeria held on for the crucial win. Despite the victory, the Eagles remain second in Group C with 14 points, behind Benin Republic on 17, setting up a decisive final-day clash that could determine who advances to the World Cup.
