Sergio Ramos Fined for Referee Criticism After Monterrey Win

Monterrey defender Sergio Ramos has been fined by the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol for publicly criticizing referee Luis Fernando Santander following his team’s 1-0 victory over Santos Laguna.
The veteran defender expressed dissatisfaction over officiating decisions, particularly two disallowed goals, and accused the referee of making questionable calls during the match. His comments were deemed to have violated league rules governing respect for match officials.
Ramos, who has contributed both defensively and offensively since joining Monterrey, will now shift focus alongside his teammates to Sunday’s Liga MX fixture against Club Tijuana as Monterrey, coached by Domenec Torrent, currently occupies second place in the table with 25 points.
