Senator Joseph Wayas’ Body Returns to Nigeria After 33 Months

The body of Nigeria’s Second Republic Senate President, Senator Dr. Joseph Wayas, has been repatriated to Nigeria 33 months after his death in the United Kingdom.
Arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday morning, his remains were received by family members, including Cross River North Senator Jarigbe Agom, Hon. Peter Akpanke, kinsmen, and other stakeholders.
After spending nearly three years at a London morgue, the body was subsequently taken to the morgue of the National Hospital in Abuja.
Senator Jarigbe, Hon. Akpanke, and the late former Senate President’s family expressed gratitude to Cross River State governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, for his efforts in facilitating the repatriation.
They also acknowledged the support of Papa Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe, Convener of the Who is Who Forum of Cross River North, and Mr. Johnny Agim, SAN, Co-convener, for mobilizing support from Cross Riverians and Nigerians to ensure the successful return of Senator Wayas’ remains.
Senator Joseph Wayas, who hailed from Cross River State, served as Nigerian Senate President from 1979 to 1983.
