Senate Votes to Extend 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill to December 2024
The Senate has passed a bill to extend the implementation of the 2023 supplementary appropriation bill until December 31, 2024. This extension aligns the 2023 supplementary budget, which amounts to N28.78 trillion, with the 2024 fiscal year.
The emergency plenary session, presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, led to the passage of the bill after thorough clause-by-clause consideration and Committee of Supply deliberations.
Meanwhile, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate Leader from APC, Ekiti Central, sponsored the bill to extend the implementation period of the 2023 supplementary budget.
In his remarks, Senate President Godswill Akpabio thanked Senators for their cooperation and patriotism, expressing confidence that the extended implementation period would enable the executive to complete all unfinished projects.
