Police raid fake dollar factory, recover three bags of counterfeit notes
The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered a suspected counterfeit currency production site in Kiniso Village, Odigbo Local Government Area, arresting one suspect and recovering three bags of suspected fake United States dollar notes. The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying the operation followed a complaint by a man identified as Yusuf Nasiru, who allegedly received counterfeit dollars during a currency exchange transaction.
According to the statement, two men, Peter Desmond and Olami Toro, allegedly approached Nasiru at his shop to exchange US dollars for their naira equivalent. Jimoh said police operatives raided the suspected hideout on October 29, following investigations and intelligence from community members, reaffirming the command’s commitment to combating financial crimes in the state.
