Police Disrupt Car-Snatching Syndicate, Recover Dismantled Stolen Vehicle in Kwara

June 1, 2024
The Nigeria Police in Kwara State have apprehended eight individuals suspected of belonging to a car-snatching syndicate in Ilorin, the state capital.
The arrest occurred while the suspects were allegedly in the process of dismantling a stolen vehicle, specifically a Nissan Almera, ash in color, bearing a Lagos registration number.
The operation unfolded at a dump site situated in the Madi area along the Okolowo/Jebba Expressway in Ilorin, where the syndicate was actively engaged in disassembling the car. Investigations revealed that the vehicle had been snatched at gunpoint in Lagos and transported to Ilorin for dismantling and potential resale.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed that efforts are underway to apprehend two additional suspects identified as Olarewaju Sukirulahi and an individual known as “Old Soldier,” who are currently at large.
