Police Confirm Casualties in Fresh Bandit Attacks on Kwara Communities

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed casualties in coordinated bandit raids on Motokun and Agboro communities in Patigi Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the attacks occurred on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, leaving residents in shock. At Motokun, six people were abducted, and six others sustained gunshot injuries. One of the victims, a woman, later died in the hospital, while the rest are receiving treatment.
The assailants reportedly moved to Agboro, where they targeted a private company, killing a police officer on duty and vandalizing property within the premises.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, confirmed that tactical teams, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, have been deployed to restore order and secure the release of abducted victims. He added that patrols and surveillance have been intensified across the affected axis.
“We commiserate with the families of those affected by this tragic incident. We urge the public to remain calm, vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to security formations,” the Command said. The attacks have heightened fears over worsening insecurity in Patigi, with residents demanding a sustained military presence to prevent further violence.
