PFN President Dares Authorities to Arrest Christians Over Bus Preaching
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has said Christians will continue preaching in commercial buses despite a proposed amendment to the Federal Road Safety Corps Act that prescribes a ₦50,000 fine for anyone convicted of hawking, trading or preaching inside commercial vehicles. Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, the President of the fellowship, Bishop Wale Oke, said believers would not stop evangelising even if authorities enforced the proposed law, insisting they were prepared to face arrest if necessary.
Bishop Oke said any attempt to restrict public preaching would violate Christians’ constitutional right to propagate their faith and maintained that Nigeria should remain open to the expression of different religious beliefs. He also claimed the proposal was directed at Christians rather than being a public safety measure.
