Paris 2024 Olympics: Wakama Promises Better D’Tigress Performance Against Canada

August 3, 2024

D’Tigress head coach, Rena Wakama, has assured fans that her team will bounce back from their recent defeat to France.

The six-time African champions lost their second group game at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games to the host nation, France, with a score of 75-54.

D’Tigress had been expected to challenge the French team after stunning world number three, Australia, with a 75-62 victory in their opening fixture. However, the West Africans underperformed in their encounter against France.

Ahead of the team’s final group game against Canada on Sunday, Wakama expressed confidence in her players’ ability to deliver a stronger performance.

“While we are disappointed with the result against France, we are motivated to put in a strong performance against Canada,” Wakama told FIBA.com. “A win will ensure our place in the next round.”

The match against Canada is crucial for D’Tigress, as a victory will secure their advancement to the next stage of the competition.
