Oyo CP Begins Statewide Security Tour, Engages Monarchs and Vigilantes
IBADAN — The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga, has commenced a statewide operational tour of Area Commands as part of efforts to strengthen security and deepen community policing across the state.
The tour, which began on Monday, involves engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders, and representatives of various interest groups to assess the security situation and develop preventive measures against crime.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the engagements provided stakeholders the opportunity to raise concerns while reviewing existing strategies to safeguard lives and property.
As part of the tour, CP Olugbenga also held strategic meetings with commanders of sister security and partner agencies. The meetings focused on enhancing inter-agency collaboration, improving operational effectiveness, and consolidating synergy in tackling crime and other security challenges.
The Commissioner also met with local vigilante groups and community-based security volunteers. He commended their contributions to grassroots security and reiterated the Command’s commitment to a collaborative approach to policing.
According to the Command, the initiative is part of sustained efforts to strengthen the security architecture in Oyo State through intelligence-led policing, stakeholder engagement, and improved cooperation between security agencies and local communities.
The Police Command stated that CP Olugbenga remains committed to working with all relevant stakeholders to sustain peace, enhance public safety, and ensure effective protection of lives and property across the state. The ongoing tour is expected to cover all Area Commands in the state in the coming days.
