Osun PDP Urges Aggrieved Members to Channel Complaints on Local Government Primaries
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has urged members with grievances over the recently concluded local government primary elections to channel their complaints through the appropriate party mechanisms for resolution.
In a statement on Saturday, Osun PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi addressed concerns raised by some aspirants regarding the election process. Bisi assured party members that all legitimate complaints would be thoroughly reviewed and resolved.
“The party leadership will not support injustice in whatever form, hence the initial release of the timetable for the primary process, which includes the appeal process even after a winner has emerged at the primary,” Bisi said.
He emphasized the importance of utilizing the party’s internal mechanisms for addressing grievances, noting the popularity of the PDP in Osun State and the high demand for its platform in the upcoming local elections.
“The PDP is a very popular platform in Osun State, hence many want to fly the flag of the party at the local elections,” Bisi continued. “We are the winning party because our Governor is delivering well to the people. We are not surprised our primary process has drawn so much attention and controversy.”
Bisi acknowledged the complaints from some local government areas and reassured members that the state leadership was committed to resolving the issues amicably. He encouraged members to engage with the party’s leadership for resolution, stressing the importance of unity within the party.
“The PDP remains a strong electoral platform. We are a family, and we must adopt a conflict resolution mechanism,” he added.
The call for reconciliation comes amid reports of dissatisfaction among some aspirants who accused the party hierarchy of imposing candidates in the primary elections. The primaries were conducted in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for February 22, 2025.
