Osun Heads to Court as EFCC Freezes Account

August 5, 2026

Osun State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Jimi-Bada, has said the state government will sue the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the freezing of its accounts. Jimi-Bada said the EFCC’s “Post no debit” directive to First Bank was issued without a court order, arguing that the action could hamper government operations. He maintained that while the agency has the power to investigate, it cannot restrict access to government funds without judicial approval.
