Olumide Oyedeji Urges D’Tigress to Maintain Winning Streak Against USA
Olumide Oyedeji, President of the Nigerian Olympian Association and a member of the Board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, has urged D’Tigress, Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, to maintain their winning streak as they face Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympic Quarter Final on Thursday.
Oyedeji, who was a key player in the Nigerian men’s team that qualified for the 2012 Olympics Basketball Tournament in London, praised D’Tigress for their exceptional performance and the joy they have brought to Nigerians despite numerous challenges.
He encouraged the team to play with confidence and embody the resilient Nigerian spirit, emphasizing, “Naija no dey carry last.”
The former captain of D’Tigers, who led Nigeria to its only Afrobasket Trophy, also commended the technical crew of D’Tigress for their excellent work.
“Stay strong and play your game. All Nigerians, and indeed Africa, are behind you,” said Oyedeji, who also serves as the 3rd Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.
