NSC DG Olopade Rejects Oliseh’s Criticism of Osimhen, Super Eagles

The Director General of Nigeria’s National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has dismissed recent criticism by former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh concerning Victor Osimhen and other national team players.

Oliseh had faulted Osimhen’s behaviour during Nigeria’s AFCON semi-final defeat to Morocco and also criticised the Super Eagles for celebrating a third-place finish, describing the act as a sign of mediocrity. Responding to the comments, Olopade said he did not agree with Oliseh’s position, noting that the remarks unfairly targeted the players. He maintained that while former stars of Nigerian football deserve respect for their past achievements, they also have a responsibility to guide and support the younger generation, rather than publicly running them down.
