NRC Announces Special Train Services for Sallah Across Key Corridors
The Nigerian Railway Corporation has rolled out special train services to accommodate the expected surge in passenger traffic during the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr (Sallah) celebrations.
According to the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the Lagos–Ibadan Train Service (LITS) will operate three trips on Thursday, March 19, 2026, with departures from Mobolaji Johnson Station, Ebute Metta, Lagos, at 7:40 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., and from Obafemi Awolowo Station, Moniya, Ibadan, at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
On the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, NRC will run two trips on Thursday and three trips daily from Friday, March 20, to Monday, March 23, 2026.
In partnership with the Osun State Government, the NRC will operate the Imole Special Train from Iddo Station, Lagos, to Osogbo, providing free travel for Osun indigenes.
Services on the Warri–Itakpe corridor will run three times weekly, while the Port Harcourt–Aba line will maintain its regular schedule during the festive period.
The NRC urged passengers to plan, arrive early, and comply with ticketing and security procedures, assuring safe, reliable, and efficient rail services.
Passengers were also extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings and encouraged to continue using rail transport as a dependable mode of travel.
