Northern States Hold Security Dialogue to Tackle Insecurity

March 26, 2026

Benue, Kaduna, Katsina, and Plateau States held a high-level security dialogue in Jos, Plateau State, bringing together officials and peacebuilding actors to address rising insecurity.

Organised by the Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (OSPRE) in partnership with the UK-funded SPRING Programme and the Plateau State Peacebuilding Agency (PSPBA), the event focused on sharing strategies, strengthening local capacities, and enhancing coordination among states.

OSPRE’s Director General, Chris Ngwodo, stressed that “no single tier of government can address today’s security challenges alone” and highlighted efforts to train over 300 personnel in early warning and conflict response across north-central and north-west zones.

Speakers emphasised the importance of collaboration between governments, communities, and development partners to build resilient systems capable of preventing conflict before escalation.
