NOA Salutes Sacrifices of Nigerian Military on Armed Forces Remembrance Day
The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has honoured the officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, describing them as the backbone of the nation’s unity, peace, and sovereignty.
Speaking on this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Issa-Onilu noted that the annual observance offers Nigerians a solemn opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of military personnel, especially those who gave their lives defending the country. He emphasized that the courage and patriotism of the fallen heroes serve as a lasting reminder of the price paid for Nigeria’s freedom and stability.
The DG also expressed appreciation to serving officers in the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force, highlighting their dedication to strengthening the country amid evolving security challenges. He further commended retired military personnel, describing them as enduring symbols of discipline, honour, and service, noting that many continue to contribute to national development through mentorship, community leadership, and advisory roles.
Issa-Onilu concluded by urging Nigerians to support the Armed Forces not only through words but through actions that promote unity, peace, and national cohesion, stressing that security is a collective responsibility requiring cooperation with security agencies and timely, credible information from citizens.
