NOA CONDEMNS ATTACK ON WORO COMMUNITY, CALLS FOR CALM AND COLLECTIVE ACTION
The National Orientation Agency has condemned the recent violent attack on Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the incident as disturbing and unacceptable. The attack reportedly led to the loss of innocent lives and heightened fear among residents of the affected community.
In a statement issued by the Kwara State Directorate of the agency, the State Director, Alhaji Dare Abdulganiyu, said the incident undermines peaceful coexistence, community safety, and ongoing efforts toward sustainable development in the state. He stressed that no community should be subjected to violence or the killing of law-abiding citizens.
The agency extended its condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Woro Community, and residents of Kaiama Local Government Area, while offering prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and strength for those affected by the tragedy.
The NOA called on security agencies to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable communities through enhanced intelligence gathering, sustained patrols, and stronger collaboration with local stakeholders to prevent future attacks. It also urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid the restoration of peace.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and national values, adding that it would continue to engage communities across Kwara State through sensitisation programmes and dialogue to strengthen trust, resilience, and collective responsibility for security.
