NOA Condemns Assault on Corps Member in Anambra, Demands Prosecution

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has strongly condemned the assault of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member by individuals identified as vigilantes in Anambra State. In a press statement issued on Thursday, NOA Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the incident as both “unfortunate and unacceptable,” stressing that such abuse of power undermines national values and the dignity of citizens. He reaffirmed that leaders and institutions must uphold accountability and lead by example, particularly when dealing with young Nigerians serving their country.
The agency commended the swift response of the Anambra State Government and called for the immediate prosecution of those involved in the assault. The DG emphasized that the incident is a serious blow to Nigeria’s image and must not be taken lightly. He urged all citizens to contribute to preserving the nation’s reputation and treat every individual, especially those serving in national capacity, with the utmost respect and protection.
