NLC Condemns Court Order Halting FCT Workers’ Strike

January 28, 2026

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has criticised the National Industrial Court’s ruling that suspended the ongoing strike by Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) workers, describing it as failing to address alleged violations of labour and welfare laws. FCTA workers began an indefinite strike on 19 January over unpaid pension and National Housing Fund deductions and other unresolved grievances, which had disrupted key offices, including the FCTA Secretariat and the Federal Capital Development Authority. The NLC said the court’s decision and long adjournment were damaging to the workers’ cause, while the FCT minister warned that attempts to defy the order would attract sanctions. Despite the ruling, the union urged workers to remain vigilant and committed to ensuring compliance with pension and housing fund laws.
