Nigeria’s First Lady Mourns Jos School Building Tragedy Victims
Former Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady of the federal republic of Nigeria has expressed her condolences to the families affected by the tragic collapse of a school building in Jos. The Plateau State Government confirmed 22 fatalities and 132 injuries from the incident, with six individuals in critical condition.
Musa Ashoms, the Commissioner for Information, reported that the injured were receiving treatment at various tertiary health facilities, while the deceased had been taken to mortuaries.
The collapse occurred at Saints Academy, a secondary and primary school in Busa-Buji community, Jos North Local Area, around 8:30 a.m. during students’ third term examinations.
In her message of condolence released through her media aide, Mrs. Bukola Kukoyi, Mrs. Tinubu described the incident as heartbreaking, offering prayers for comfort and strength to the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Muftwang, the bereaved families, and the entire Plateau State community.
“My heartfelt condolences goes to the Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Muftwang, the bereaved families, and the entire people of Plateau State.
It is disheartening to lose these children with a promising future. Words are not enough to console you, but I pray that God comforts you all and grants you the strength to bear the devastating loss.
“May the souls of these our precious ones rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
