Nigeria’s Dele-Bashiru, Ajayi Return Strong for FIFA World Cup Qualifier
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Semi Ajayi have been declared fit and available for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic. Dele-Bashiru, who scored Nigeria’s lone goal in the recent 1-1 draw against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, had to be substituted due to injury in the 61st minute of the game. Alhassan Yusuf replaced him on the field. Meanwhile, centre-back Ajayi also had to leave the pitch prematurely, ten minutes before the end of the match, following a knock. Raphael Onyedika took his place in the game.
Despite their injuries in the previous match, both Dele-Bashiru and Ajayi have recovered and are ready to contribute to Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying campaign. The team is gearing up for a crucial fixture against Benin Republic, aiming to secure a vital victory in their quest for World Cup qualification.
The match against Benin Republic is scheduled to take place at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on June 10th, 2024 and Kick-off is set for 5 PM Nigeria time.
