Nigeria Cricket Federation Relies on Coach Daniel Gim’s Experience for World Cup Qualifiers
The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), through its General Manager Emeka Igwilo, has expressed confidence in the newly reappointed coach Daniel Gim to lead the national U-19 teams to success in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Coach Daniel Gim, who previously led the U-19 men’s team, has been reinstated with the expectation of leveraging his extensive experience to secure results for Nigeria.
His previous tenure is noted for securing Nigeria’s first-ever World Cup ticket in 2019, and the NCF is hopeful that his expertise will guide the team through the next crucial stage.
“Our performance at this stage in 2019 earned us our first World Cup ticket, and since then, this stage has kept us in the spotlight. We are banking on the experience of the coaching staff and our collective hard work to advance to the next stage,” Igwilo told Punch correspondent.
The national U-19 teams, both boys and girls, are set to commence their World Cup qualification campaigns. The qualifiers are scheduled to run from July 31 to August 19, 2024.
The teams will be striving to replicate or exceed past successes and secure their places in the prestigious tournament.
The NCF’s decision to rely on Coach Gim’s proven track record underscores their commitment to building on previous achievements and enhancing Nigeria’s standing in the international cricket arena.
