Niger Launches Statewide Immunisation Campaign
The Niger State Government has launched a statewide advocacy campaign on routine immunisation and the strengthening of primary healthcare services across all 25 local government areas.
The campaign was flagged off in Garatu, Bosso Local Government Area, by the wife of the governor, Fatima Mohammed Bago, who described immunisation as a vital step in protecting children and securing their future.
She urged parents to ensure full vaccination of children, warning that unvaccinated children put entire communities at risk.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Murtala Muhammad Bagana, said the government plans to build 111 primary healthcare centres, with many already completed or under construction in partnership with development agencies like UNICEF.
Officials also confirmed the recruitment of hundreds of health workers to improve service delivery.
The campaign aims to expand access to vaccines and improve maternal and child health services across the state.
