NBA Star John Wall Announces Retirement at 34

Five-time NBA All-Star and former No. 1 overall draft pick John Wall has officially announced his retirement from basketball. Wall, who turns 35 on September 6, last featured in the league with the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2022–23 season after a career hampered by recurring knee injuries that restricted him to just 147 appearances since 2017.
Drafted first overall by the Washington Wizards in 2010, Wall spent nine seasons with the franchise, averaging 19.0 points, 9.2 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 573 career games. The Wizards paid tribute to him as “one of our franchise all-time greats” following the announcement.
Wall was traded to the Houston Rockets in 2020 in a blockbuster deal that sent Russell Westbrook to Washington, playing just one season there before sitting out 2021–22 due to injury. He returned briefly with the Clippers in 2022–23 but did not continue afterward.
Regarded as one of the most electrifying point guards of his era, Wall leaves the game with a legacy defined by speed, playmaking, and resilience despite his injury setbacks.
