Nasarawa Governor Ensures Timely Salary Payments Ahead of Sallah
Governor Abdullahi Sule has taken proactive steps to ensure civil servants receive their June salaries on time in preparation for the upcoming Sallah celebration scheduled for June 16th,2024 . The governor issued this directive during an empowerment program organized by Hon. Magret Elayo, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian Affairs, and NGOs, on Tuesday June 11th, 2024 .
He expressed confidence in the financial stability of the local governments, urging them to demonstrate their ability to fulfill salary obligations without relying solely on federal allocations. The governor underscored the significance of this initiative in testing the veracity of claims regarding the local governments’ financial reserves.
Addressing the local government chairmen directly, Governor Sule reiterated the expectation for them to utilize their savings to cover salary payments, emphasizing that the state government would fulfill its own financial obligations. He urged them not to solely depend on federal allocations from Abuja but to utilize their existing reserves to ensure timely salary disbursement.
Meanwhile, with the Sallah celebration approaching, Governor Sule’s proactive measures aimed to alleviate financial burdens on civil servants and promote fiscal responsibility at the local government level by prioritizing timely salary payments and encouraging the utilization of savings, the governor sought to uphold the welfare of workers and maintain financial stability within the state.
