NAFDAC Sets 18-Month Deadline for Trans Fat Elimination

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced an 18-month grace period for food manufacturers to comply with new regulations limiting industrially produced trans-fatty acids (TFA) to no more than 2 grams per 100 grams of fat or oil. Announced by NAFDAC Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, the move marks a shift from policy creation to strict enforcement, aiming to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and premature death linked to TFA consumption.
