Morocco to Host 2026 FIFA World Cup Playoffs — CAF Confirms

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed that Morocco will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs. The mini-tournament will decide Africa’s representative in the intercontinental play-offs for the global competition. According to CAF, the semi-final matches will take place on November 13, 2025, with the final scheduled for November 16, 2025, both to be held in Morocco.
The tournament will feature the four best second-placed teams from the nine CAF qualifying groups after matchday 10. The October 2025 FIFA rankings, set for release on October 23, will determine the seedings for the draw. Under the format, the top-ranked team will face the fourth-best, while the second and third-ranked teams will contest the other semi-final. The winner of the playoffs in Morocco will advance to the intercontinental play-offs in March 2026, where they will compete for a World Cup spot against teams from Asia, South America, Oceania, or CONCACAF.
