Lagos Government Orders Stay-Indoors Sanitation Exercise for Saturday*
The Lagos State Government has directed residents to remain indoors and take part in the May edition of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday, May 30, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Environment Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab said the two-hour window should be used to clean homes, drains, and public spaces, stressing that cleanliness is essential for public health and flood prevention.
First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu will monitor compliance in Alimosho, while Head of Service Olabode Agoro will oversee Apapa. Wahab warned that defaulters risk abatement notices and prosecution, and cautioned against the activities of illegal cart pushers as private sector participation in waste services expands across the state.
