Kwara United’s Technical Adviser Kabiru Dogo Targets CAF Champions League Qualification

July 8, 2024

Kabiru Dogo, the Technical Adviser of Kwara United FC, has set an ambitious goal of qualifying the club for the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League.

Dogo revealed his target during a media parley with the Kwara State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) at the conference hall of the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) on Monday.

The former Sunshine Stars coach also expressed his aspiration to win the 2025 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

He praised the support he received from Kwara United FC’s management last season and noted that a strategic roadmap has been established to ensure the club excels in the upcoming season.

“Kwara United FC has what it takes to feature in next season’s CAF Champions League. We have a lot of quality players in the squad capable of making a difference on the African continent. If you look at the statistics of last season, the difference between the winners (Enugu Rangers) and us was the number of draws we had, which I was not happy with,” Dogo said.

“The main objective is to win the title next season and put smiles on the faces of the people of Kwara State. The management of Kwara United FC is doing everything possible to retain some quality players who can make a huge difference in the squad, and I must thank them for giving me free hands to manage the team,” he added.

Dogo also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support during the club’s challenging times over the past two seasons.

He highlighted the contributions of Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, who consistently conveyed the governor’s messages of support during matches.

“I want to thank the people of Kwara, the supporters of Kwara United FC, the FA Chairman, Idris Abdullahi (Thuraya), and my community for their encouragement and support,” Dogo stated.

He further emphasized the club’s commitment to providing opportunities for indigenous players to thrive, ensuring that local talents are nurtured and given the platform to excel.
