Kwara State Governor Calls for Reflection and Unity During 2024 Hijrah Celebration

July 8, 2024

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has called upon Nigerians, particularly Muslim faithful, to embody the teachings of Hijrah in their daily lives, promoting unity and compassion as demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad.

Speaking at the 2024 Hijrah celebration (1446AH) organized by the Hijrah Islamic Organisation in Ilorin, the state capital, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized the significance of the occasion in fostering kindness and solidarity among communities.

Represented by Senior Adviser/Counselor Alhaji Saadu Salahu, the Governor urged Muslims to use the opportunity “to visit the sick, support distressed family members, and extend acts of kindness to one another as brothers.”

Highlighting his administration’s commitment to responsive governance, Governor AbdulRazaq assured the public of his readiness to adjust policies in line with public needs, emphasizing that tough decisions are made in the interest of societal welfare.

Reaffirming his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the Governor called on Nigerians to unite and contribute positively to national development.

He announced a work-free day in Kwara State on Monday in observance of the Hijrah celebration, underscoring the state’s commitment to respecting citizens’ rights to spiritual growth and happiness.

During the event, Sheikh AbdulMumin Ayara, National Missioner of Ansraul Islam Society of Nigeria, condemned the arbitrary increase in food prices and other commodities by traders, attributing these actions to inflation and exchange rate fluctuations.

He called upon those responsible to fear Allah and be accountable for their actions in the afterlife.

These sentiments were echoed by Sheik Habeebulahi El-Ilorin, representing Mudirul Markaz, who emphasized the ethical imperative of fair pricing and responsible economic practices.

In his address, Prof. Badmas Yusuf, Chairman of the Hijrah Islamic Organisation, urged the government to encourage foreign investment and implement policies aimed at economic diversification, emphasizing the need for sustainable growth and development.

The 2024 Hijrah celebration in Kwara State not only commemorated a significant Islamic event but also served as a platform for community reflection and advocacy for ethical governance and economic stability.
