Kwara State Begins Construction on Post Office-Emir’s Road-Isale Oja Roads; Announces Alternative Routes
The Kwara State Government has commenced construction on the Post Office-Emir’s Road-Isale Oja Roads and announced alternative routes to alleviate traffic congestion during the period.
The decision to embark on these urban renewal projects was approved by the state cabinet, underlining Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure across the state.
In a statement issued by the Honorable Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, commuters were advised to utilize alternative routes such as Taiwo Isale, Edun, Obo Road, Niger Road, Opomalu, Centre Igboro, Balogun Fulani, and Bolanta Roads to navigate around the Ilorin metropolis while construction is underway.
“To ensure a smooth commencement of reconstruction on these roads, we urge residents to relocate all vehicles from both sides of the designated construction routes,” Engr. Olododo stated.
Acknowledging potential inconveniences during the reconstruction phase, the Commissioner appealed for understanding and cooperation from residents and commuters.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to developing resilient infrastructure that contributes to the economic growth of Kwara State.
“We commend His Excellency for prioritizing the construction of safer, more efficient, and aesthetically pleasing roads that will benefit our state for years to come,” he added.
The Emir’s Road dual carriageway, initially initiated during the Adamu Attah administration and completed under Group Captain Salaudeen Adebola Olatinwo, marks a significant historical context for the ongoing reconstruction efforts.
This reconstruction effort represents the first major overhaul of the road since the era of Group Captain Olatinwo, underscoring its importance in the state’s infrastructure development agenda.
