Kwara State Advances Renewable Energy Drive with Proposed Solar Project Site Inspection
The Kwara State Government has continued technical inspections of potential sites for a proposed solar energy project as part of its ongoing renewable energy initiatives. The inspections aim to assess the technical and environmental suitability of sites to ensure the successful deployment of solar infrastructure, improve power supply, stimulate economic activities, and enhance residents’ quality of life.
The site visit, led by the Commissioner for Energy, Engr. AbdulAzeez Kola AbdulGaniy took place at the Ohoro of Shao’s Palace in Shao, Moro Local Government Area. The exercise follows an earlier visit on November 13, 2025, during which representatives from Energy China and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum conducted data collection and energy planning for the project under the Federal Government’s energy master plan.
The Kwara State Government, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, reiterated its commitment to clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions as a catalyst for socio-economic development. The inspections are part of a broader assessment of multiple locations to ensure equitable distribution of the project’s benefits and long-term sustainability.
The Ohoro of Shao, Oba Job Obalowu Atolagbe, expressed appreciation to the government for its developmental initiatives and assured full community support for the project’s successful execution.
Accompanying the Commissioner were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Olaitan Afolabi; the Acting Director of Electrical Engineering, Engr. Fisayo Dada; Assistant Director, Electrical Engineering, Engr. Nurudeen Alao, and other technical officers of the ministry.
