Kwara Stadium Set to Host NPFL Matches Next Season, Claims Coach Mogaji
Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, has affirmed that the Kwara Stadium will be fully prepared to host Kwara United Football Club for the upcoming season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
This assurance comes amidst recent concerns raised by the league body regarding the stadium’s condition.
Recently, the Nigeria Premier Football League had identified Kwara State Stadium among several others that needed improvements to meet league standards, describing its current state as needing attention to ensure optimal playing conditions.
Other clubs affected by similar directives include Abia Warriors, Sunshine Stars, Shooting Stars, Niger Tornadoes, Plateau United, and newly promoted El-Kanemi Warriors, who were all urged to upgrade their facilities or face potential relocation for matches.
Mogaji clarified that such directives are routine and typically issued at the end of each season, focusing on specific areas that require maintenance rather than condemning the entire stadium’s capabilities.
“Kwara State Stadium boasts one of the finest turfs in the country. It is normal that at the conclusion of a season, certain patches or aspects of the stadium may need repairs. This is precisely the intention behind the league’s instructions,” Mogaji stated.
He emphasized the commitment of the Kwara State Sports Commission to ensuring that necessary upgrades are swiftly implemented to meet the league’s standards before the commencement of the new season.
